Before the 70s, there were few schools of health technology in Nigeria. The story is now different as each state in the federation has at least one college of health technology. This was as a result of the conscious effort by the same federal government to bring this school close to the people.
However, that you see a school offering health technology in you state does not mean its accredited. In fact, you need to watch closer and do your background check on the college you want to apply so that you apply to the right institution to avoid stories that touch. You might be seen as a quack, denied membership into professional bodies or even denied admission to further your education simply because the institution wasn’t listed among the accredited school of health technology in the country.

LAGOS STATE COLLEGE OF HEALTH TECHNOLOGY (LASCOHET)
LASCOHET has remained one of the leading colleges of health technology in Nigeria offering various major health related courses with state of the art equipment.
The school was founded in 1920 bearing the name, “School of Hygiene”. During this period, they allowed programs for the training of nurses and community midwives before it was then upgraded to a School of Health Technology in 1977.
COLLEGE OF HEALTH TECHNOLOGY, CALABAR
The College of Health Technology, Calabar is another good school where you can study health technology in Nigeria and has been approved by the Federal Ministry of Health to be used as an Institute of Public Health. Prior to its relocation to its permanent site, this college had trained more than 21 School Health Attendants and 5 Community Nursing Students.
Other trained health workers ranging from- Rural Health Assistants and Leprosy Attendants, Public Health Nurses, Community Midwives, Rural Health Superintendents, Public Health Superintendents, Junior Community Health Extension Workers (JCHEWs)), Medical Records Assistants and Assistant Medical Records Officers have all been trained and certified by this college at Calabar.
KWARA STATE SCHOOL OF HEALTH TECHNOLOGY
The Kwara State school of Health technology is located in Offa and was established in 1976. The school has graduated over 7000 students who are now professionals in the health care sector. Aside training, this college is also a research institute.
