The Nigerian Maritime Administration and Safety Agency, also known as NIMASA, certifies institutions that provide maritime training and education in Nigeria. There are a lot of these places, but which ones are accredited? We’ll check out the listing of NIMASA-approved maritime training institutions in Nigeria in this article. We’ll also include their individual courses.

MARITIME ACADEMY OF NIGERIA

Nigeria’s Nautical Academy is the country’s most prestigious nautical institution. The institution is situated in the country’s coastal region, namely at Oron, Akwa Ibom State.

The institute is in responsible of teaching all levels of personnel to operate aboard merchant navy ships, ports, maritime engineering workshops, pilotage, shipyards, and other maritime-related sectors.

The International Maritime Organization’s White List of countries that have completely adhered with the STCW 1978 Convention, as modified in 2010, includes the Maritime Academy of Oron.

ELKINS MARINE TRAINING INTERNATIONAL

Elkins Marine Training International Nigeria (EMTIN) is a major training institution and consultancy firm serving the government, maritime sector, oil and gas firms, and other businesses in Nigeria. For the oil and gas industry, offshore, marine, and security companies, among others, they train, counsel, and give solutions.

The headquarters of Elkins Marine Training International are in Owerri, the capital of Imo State. Elkins Marine Training International (EMTI), based in California, owns and operates the institution. The maritime and offshore industries around the world benefit from EMTI’s high-quality training curriculum courses.

JOE MARINE INSTITUTE OF NAUTICAL STUDIES AND RESEARCH

Joemarine Institute of Nautical Studies and Research is a locally owned and operated business in Effurun, Delta State. The institution was created by Late Capt. (Dr) Joel Opuro Epidei in 1997 and is licensed with the Nigerian Corporate Affairs Commission (CAC).

Joemarine is approved by a number of nautical industry standard entities. The institute provides maritime training that complies with the International Maritime Organization’s (IMO) Code for Standard of Training, Certification, and Watchkeeping (STCW). All Joe Marine trainings are designed to comply with the STCW Code and conventions, as revised, and are modeled after the IMO’s current course model, which has been authorized by the Agency (NIMASA).

COASTAL MARITIME ACADEMY

Coastal Maritime Academy, based in Ikoyi, Lagos, is a renowned maritime institute. In 2008, a private-sector initiative developed this Academy. The school’s objective is to constantly provide high-quality maritime education and training for merchant navy ships and related businesses.

The Nigerian Maritime Administration and Safety Agency granted license to Coastal Maritime Academy. The school was given the green light to deliver STCW ’95 Convention Courses training and education in compliance with the standard specifications. They uphold extremely high delivering services norms, and their training teachers are highly certified in their respective fields.

TOLMANN ALLIED SERVICES CO. LTD

FEDERAL COLLEGE OF FISHERIES AND MARINE TECHNOLOGY

The Federal College of Fisheries and Marine Technology (FCFMT) is a Government Tertiary Institution developed to satisfy the demands of the Nigerian economy’s Agricultural, Fisheries, and Maritime Subsectors.

The College began as a technical education institute in 1969 and changed its name to its present form in 1992. The location of this institution is Victoria Island, Lagos.

CHARKIN MARITIME SAFETY CENTRE

The Charkin Maritime and Offshore Safety Centre is a renowned nautical and offshore safety training institute for the seafaring and offshore oil & gas industries.

Charkin’s main state-of-the-art operation is in Port Harcourt, on the East-West highway. It also operates a center on the Rivers State University of Science and Technology’s main campus in Port Harcourt.

MATRAL MARITIME TRAINING CENTRE

Amuwo Odofin, Lagos State, is home to the Matral Maritime Training Centre. This marine institute was founded on the initiative of the business sector. Two cross – border maritime conferences on the improvement of African seafarers, conducted in Abuja, Nigeria in 2005 and Accra, Ghana in 2009, resulted in the foundation of the organization.

The Nigerian Maritime Administration and Safety Agency (NIMASA) has authorized Matral Maritime Training Centre, which began operations in 2012.
