Dr. ABC Orjiakor was recently ranked by Forbes as Nigeria’s richest doctor and one of the billionaire entrepreneurs in the country with a net worth of $1.2 billion dollars and chain of companies and business ventures.

Dr. ABC Orjiakor Biography

Although, Dr. Ambrose Bryant Chukwueloka Orjiakor was born in Calabar, Cross Rivers State on 2nd July, 1960 to late Mrs Rebecca Orjiakor and late Chief Daniel Obiesie Orjiakor, he hails from Uli in Anambra state. He had both his primary and secondary school education in Uli, from 1972 to 1978. He picked up interest in science while in secondary school and was the best in his class. He later pursued his dream course, medicine and surgery at the prestigious University of Calabar. Orjiakor graduated in 1985 as the best student among his set to become a qualified medical doctor.

After graduating from the university, Dr. ABC Orjiakor had his specialty training at the Lagos University Teaching Hospital and the National Orthopedic Hospital in Igbobi, Lagos. At LUTH, he specialized majorly in orthopedic surgery and trauma management, but also had a business mindset to be an entrepreneur. From his young age as an undergraduate, he already exhibited leadership qualities as he held various positions such as Chairman, Standing Committee on Education of the African Medical Students Association and the African Regional Director of the International Federation of Medical Students.

After years of practicing medicine, Dr. ABC Orjiakor ventured into full time business in 1996. He invested his money into the oil and gas sector, marine, pharmaceutical, insurance and banking industries. He has continued soaring higher in the business world and till date, he ranks in the business world as one of the youngest achievers of his generation. What also helped him was his affiliations with the top echelons in the Nigerian military most especially Ibrahim Badamosi Babangida, a former military head of state.

Even though ABC Orjiakor has never contested for any political position, he is politically active as seen in his support for Governor Chinwoke Mbadinuju under the umbrella of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) and Charles Soludo, a former CBN governor. Aside this, Orjiakor is a philanthropist, helping many Nigerians home and abroad through humanitarian outreach via his foundation, the Daniel Orjiako Memorial Foundation.
