GRAND COMMANDER OF THE ORDER OF THE FEDERAL REPUBLIC (GCFR)

ORDER OF THE NIGER

The Order of the Niger is indeed one of the formed Orders in Nigeria. The Grand Commander of the Order of the Niger (GCON), Commander of the Order of the Niger (CON), Officer of the Order of the Niger (OON), and Member of the Order of the Niger are the four levels of this Order (MON).

THE NIGERIA STAR

THE RIVER NIGER STAR

THE RIVER BENUE STAR

The River Benue Star is given exclusively to commissioned military personnel who displayed valor while doing their responsibilities.

THE NIGERIA EAGLE

Armed services non-commissioned officers who exhibit exceptional gallantry in the face of a state enemy are given the Nigeria Eagle honorary award.

THE DISTINGUISHED SERVICE MEDAL

The Distinguished Service Medal may be given to a non-commissioned member of the armed forces who performed a noteworthy act of heroism while serving their country.

THE LOYAL SERVICE AND GOOD CONDUCT MEDAL

Armed services personnel who have rendered long-term service to the country and upheld moral character throughout that time are given the Loyal Service and Good Conduct Medal. Obviously it depends on whether a person is commissioned or non-commissioned, the amount of time spent serving in the military that qualifies them for this medal is either twelve or sixteen years.

THE FORCES SERVICE STAR

The Forces Service Star medal is given to military personnel who have completed twelve years of color service and who have also displayed exceptional conduct throughout their time.

HONOURS (POLICE) WARRANT

Personnel of the Nigerian Police Force and the Nigeria Special Constabulary who shown eminent acts of bravery and admirable behavior while doing their responsibilities are eligible for the honours (police) warrant, a type of national honor medal.

THE NIGERIA POLICE STAR

Officers of the Nigeria Police Force who displayed courage while performing their duty of defending people and property are given the Nigeria Police Star, a medal of the Honour (Police) Warrant.

THE MERITORIOUS SERVICE MEDAL

Members of the Nigerian Police Force who might have displayed outstanding conduct, exceptional competence, and rendered long-term, devoted service to the service are given this medal.

THE SPECIAL CONSTABULARY MEDAL

Members of the Nigeria Special Constabulary who have rendered uninterrupted service to the force for nine years without compensation are eligible for the Special Constabulary Medal.

THE LONG SERVICE MEDAL

All Senior Police Officers in the Nigerian Police Force are given this medal called Long Service. Particularly those who have demonstrated exceptional character during their twelve years of consistent devotion to the police. Additionally, to be considered for the Long Service Medal, a police officer must have served for twelve years without receiving a disciplinary action below the rank of Cadet Superintendent of Police. Officers of the Nigerian Police Force who received six or fewer penalties in the six years prior to the recommendation of this honor and who received nothing more than six punishments during the course of their service in the force are also qualified for the Long Service Medal.
