Emergencies are sort of natural disaster that does not give cautions or forewarning before occurrence. It happens whenever, however, wherever and to whomever. No one is above disasters or accidents, but it can be checked.
Apart from emergency, there are other occasions that might need quicker helps. So many people don’t actually know the emergency numbers in Nigeria. Most people will tell you its “911”, but that’s not the helpline number in Nigeria.
While we have put together this list of emergency phone numbers, you should know that these hotlines will enable you contact the relevant agencies in case you encounter situations that are beyond your control or even in situations where you would require urgent response from the government security authorities.
The emergency numbers of the Police or Ambulance in the country is something I expect all Nigerians to have access to as it can aid you in situations that needs urgent response or help. Even the Fire Service helplines are important as you would know who to call whenever there is a fire emergency.
As stated above, the emergency phone number for the Nigeria Police isn’t 911. So, if you are in a dire situation, especially the case of theft or kidnap, fights or chaotic disaster involving arms that could injure or end your life or that of your loved ones, the official general police emergency phone number in Nigeria to dial is 112 or 199.
You can also use the numbers “112” or “199” for contacting the Federal Fire Service and the Ambulance services in the country. Please keep these numbers in your memory so you won’t forget and recall them during emergency situations.
