Sarkodie is the fourth issue of five children. He was born and raised in Tema in Ghana by his mother Maame Aggrey. It was at a young age that Sarkodie started rapping. His talent in the rap world continued throughout his schooling career. He attended Tema Methodist Senior High School and also got a degree in Graphic Design from IPMC. Since he appeared on the lime-light, he has become a household name not just in Ghana but in countries like Nigeria, Kenya and some western countries.
