Multichoice Nigeria Limited popularly known as DStv Nigeria was founded in 1993 as a joint venture between Adewunmi Ogunsanya, an attorney at law and MultiChoice Africa. Multichoice Nigeria started operating in March 1994. Since it operation in 1994, it had rolled out entertaining, informative and educative services tailored toward the Nigerian audience. Its two very prominent Cable TV in Nigeria includes DStv and GOtv Nigeria.

DSTV NIGERIA

Multichoice Nigeria launched DStv in Nigeria in 1996 that a year after it was launched by it parent company. DStv a direct-to-home (DTH) satellite bouquet of channels digital TV consisting of 17 original video channels when it was launched. These are; M-Net, MTV, MGM TV, KTV, TCM, Cartoon Network, TNT Sci-Fi Universal, ESPN, SuperSport, Travel Channel, SelecTV, BBC World News, Sky News, CNN International, Trinity Broadcasting Network, VH1 and TV5Monde.

DStv since it operation till date had added a lot of channels tailored toward the Nigerian audience. Some of these includes; The widely known African Magic movies like the African Magic Hausa, Yoruba and Igbo, DStv Family, DStv Compact, DStv Access among others.

Multichoice Nigeria had been criticized heavily for the high rate it charges it customers on DStv subscription as well as the company not making DStv subscription pay-as-you-go.

GOTV NIGERIA

GOtv introduced was in 2011, it is just like a mini DStv tailored toward those not able to pay the high cost of DStv subscription or customers that feels the subscription price isn’t justifiable.

Since the launch of GOtv, Multichoice Nigeria customers base/audience had greatly increased. Before it creation, channels like Telemundo, African Magic, SuperSport and Co are out of the view of an average Nigerian but the coming of GOtv had changed this. Not only that, GOtv also boost of many local channels just like the DStv. What makes GOtv popular among the Nigerian Population is the subscription which is simply way cheaper than DStv subscription.

    I was at your office in sango today and I was informed that DStv is 30000 without installation price that I will need to pay 7000 for installation. Am now surprised when I saw it that with installation is 30000 and without installation is 25000. I want this to be addressed.
