The Nigerian Peace corps ranking system is different from what is obtainable in the ranks of the Nigerian army, navy or air force. Recently, the Nigerian Peace Corp bill was passed into law to allow the Peace Corp in Nigeria ranks (PCN) to join other paramilitary agencies in Nigeria like the NSCDC, Customs, Immigrations, FRSC e.t.c and to be placed on the Consolidated Paramilitary Salary Structure (CONPASS). The Corp was founded by (Dr) Dickson A. O. Akoh to foster national creativity, unity, peace, youth development and and re-orientation, no wonder the Nigerian Peace Corp motto is “Discipline and Patriotic Services” which is their primary function.

Just like the Nigerian immigration, the highest rank in the Peace Corp is the Commandant-General (CG) followed by six Deputy Commandant General (DCGs) and six Assistant Commandant – General (ACGs). All these various positions and recruitment into the corp must be according to the law and must be drawn from the six geopolitical zones which should reflect the Federal Character principle.
