The Nigerian Defence Academy with the acronym NDA is saddled with the responsibility of training officers for the Nigerian armed forces. As it stands now, the Nigerian Defence Academy is the only military university in Nigeria that runs both undergraduate and post-graduate courses.

People willing to pursue a career in the military and their educational career at the same have this school as the only school that appeals to them in the country. In NDA, they offer degree courses, masters and even PhD.

This school is ranked one of the best military school in West Africa thus, gaining admission into the school is a competition that requires celebration ones one pass through. However, they don’t train only Nigerian’s, they reserve space for other West African countries. One thing that’s important to mention here’s is that as a civilian, you can attend the school but be sure… you would be excluded from military training as that is meant only for their cadets.

The university provides each officer with the necessary knowledge and skills needed to meet the requirements of a military officer through military, academic and character development. It trains officer corps for the Nigerian Army, the Nigerian Navy and its Air Force.

Usually, the quota number of cadet admitted yearly is 175 with 155 of them being males while the remaining 20 would be females. Divide this number by the number of states we have and then with the number of Local government Areas in the country and you would see why it is very competitive.
