This is the comprehensive list of all accredited state universities in the Federal Republic of Nigeria and their courses they offer.

Although, there are federal, state and private owned schools in Nigeria, we shall focus on the state owned educational institutions, all of course are accredited by the NUC.

With the ever increasing demand for quality education and the increase in student population every year, it is imperative to help prospective students outline these various state universities so as to make it easy for them to choose from.

From our findings, we were able to gather that there are 38 accredited state universities in Nigeria and we will outline them in alphabetical order for easy access.

State universities are academic institutions primarily controlled and owned by the government at the state level. The aim of these universities is to expand admissions for students, bringing professional skills, expertise through modern research facilities to rural dwellers in a bid to obtain higher education.

It is important to note that these state owned academic institutions and the courses they offer have been fully accredited by the National Universities Commission (NUC)

1. Abia State University (ABSU)

ABSU is one of the state universities located in the south eastern part of Nigeria. It was established in 1981 and is one of the best schools in the country offering both undergraduate, graduate and doctorate degrees.

2. Adamawa State University,  Mubi (ADSU)

ADSU is another state owned university established in 2002 and one of the popular academic institutions located in the Northern region of the country. They offer admission to students who wish to study in their campus and have good lecturers and a conducive environment for learning and research.

It should be interesting to note that the ADSU post-graduate school has just secured approval from the National Universities Commission to undertake postgraduate studies at PGD, PGDE, MBA, MPA, M.SC, and Ph.D in different disciplines.

AAUA was established in Decemnber 1999 and it is a state operated Nigerian University located in Ondo state. The school also offers students and future graduates alike the opportunity to have a sound academic training.

Aside normal undergraduate, postgraduate and doctoral degrees, there is also sandwich program in the school if you are interested in studying there.
